A great way to welcome the harvest season is with these pony bead corn crafts for kids. This project gives little crafters the opportunity to be hands on with the different colors of corn and lets them create their own. Corn or maize can grow naturally in so many different colors. All of the colors can be created using two simple supplies. The pony beads for the colored corn, and pipe cleaners to hold it all together. You can talk to your kids here about the naturally occurring colors of maize, such as yellow, brown, red, orange and even blue, black and purple!

Supplies you’ll need for your Pony Bead Corn Crafts For Kids and where to find them:
- Pipe cleaners – https://amzn.to/3fo6aYt
- Assorted colors of pony beads – https://amzn.to/3jh5xkw
Step one: Getting your pipe cleaners ready
This project is great because it’s so easy. There are three steps. This first one gets the pipe cleaners ready for the beads. For each husk of corn, you will need four pipe cleaners. Good colors to use for the husk would be brown, tan, yellow or green to represent the natural colors of the husk.
To begin, take two of your pipe cleaners. Cross one over the other in the middle. Wrap one around the other to secure it. Take your third pipe cleaner, wrap it around the first two in the middle to secure it. Do the same with the last pipe cleaner. This will give you eight pipe half pipes cleaners to put your beads on.
Step two: The colorful fun part!
Get all of your beads handy and start to add them to your pipe cleaners. Add them in random patterns for a natural maize look. Maize grows in beautiful colors and the colors of your maize is beautiful too! Keep adding beads to each pipe cleaner until you have 16 pony beads on each pipe cleaner.
Step three: Finishing your pony bead corn crafts for kids
To finish your husk of maize, bring all of the pipe cleaners up in your palm so the ends are all facing up. While holding on to your husk with one hand, twist the pipe cleaner “stem” so that it is secured. You and your little crafters are finished!
Display your wonderful harvest for all to see! Maize was once thought of as a very special gift. You can give yours to some one who is special to you!
